There was some excitement to start the day when Thistle, the Shetland Ram, smashed in the door/wall on the lamb jug. We brought he & Milkweed, the Angora Buck, into the barn to await their turn when the skies opened up and rain threatened to soak their coats. SJ saved the day by blocking the door with a metal panel and then Jim replaced the broken boards and hardware so that it is as good as new. And Thistle, the frustrated ram, has a spring in his step for the new season now that he is sans a years’ worth of wool.
The surprise of the day (not surprise), was that Laurel, the Merino ewe, is another week or more out from delivering. Her shearing revealed the most gorgeous black wool underneath, and not as developed of an udder as is necessary for lambs just yet. LambCam will be back up and running in a few days, with some updates to make it easier to use, and we’ll announce when you can hop online to watch for lambing.
